About HyloraBotanical Intelligence. Scientifically Delivered.
Hylora was founded on the belief that skin health is both a science and an art — one that begins at the molecular level. Our mission is to fuse clinically validated actives with botanical intelligence, applying formulation discipline to create skincare that is biologically relevant, absorption-efficient, and performance-driven.
We formulate with restraint. Every active we use has a purpose, and every concentration is based on scientific thresholds of efficacy — not marketing maximalism. Our products are developed in small, precision-controlled batches to ensure potency, purity, and stability.
Why the Name "Hylora".
The name Hylora combines Hyaluronic Acid — the gold standard for hydration — with Flora, a nod to our commitment to botanical integrity. Together, the name reflects our dual allegiance to science-backed performance and natural intelligence.
Rooibos: Origin and Relevance
From South Africa’s Cederberg mountains grows Aspalathus linearis, better known as rooibos — a plant with resilience encoded in its chemistry. Thriving in harsh climates and mineral-rich soil, rooibos develops a rare profile of polyphenols, aspalathin and nothofagin, known for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and barrier-repairing qualities.
In topical applications, rooibos helps counteract oxidative stress, reinforces skin integrity, and calms redness and irritation — making it ideal for modern skin exposed to urban pollution, UV stress, and internal
Formulation Philosophy
Our serum and cream formulations are developed in small batches using ingredients of the highest available purity. Concentration is never selected for marketing appeal, but for biological relevance and delivery efficiency.
We incorporate Low-Molecular-Weight (LMW) and Ultra-Low-Molecular-Weight (ULMW) Hyaluronic Acid to ensure multi-depth hydration. LMW hydrates effectively at the epidermal level. ULMW penetrates deeper, targeting intracellular hydration and matrix stimulation. However, due to its intensity, ULMW is reserved for specialist serums recommended 2–3 times per week — not for daily use — to avoid rebound dehydration or inflammation.
Key Actives: Scientific Context
Hyaluronic Acid (LMW & ULMW)
Hydration is the cornerstone of cellular health.
LMW HA (~100 kDa) hydrates the stratum corneum, softens texture, and supports plumping.
ULMW HA (~3–5 kDa) penetrates deeper to influence gene expression and collagen synthesis, but requires careful formulation due to its potential to overdraw moisture if misused.
Rooibos Extract
Selected for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, rooibos protects against oxidative stress and enhances barrier repair — crucial for sensitive or stressed skin.
Panthenol (Vitamin B5)
A provitamin that accelerates wound healing, increases skin hydration, and strengthens the skin barrier. Especially useful in post-procedure and recovery-support formulas.
Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
The skin's primary lipid-soluble antioxidant. It protects against UV-induced free radicals and enhances skin resilience.
Green Tea & Cucumber Extracts
Both provide antioxidant and soothing benefits. Green tea's EGCG supports elasticity and cell protection; cucumber instantly cools, calms and hydrates.
AHA (Fruit Acids)
A carefully balanced blend of alpha-hydroxy acids that resurface the skin gently, promoting cell turnover and improved radiance without aggressive exfoliation.
Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone)
A lipophilic antioxidant naturally present in skin cells, CoQ10 supports mitochondrial energy production and protects against oxidative stress. Topically, it helps stabilize collagen, improve firmness, and reduce signs of fatigue or UV damage. Hylora uses CoQ10 in optimized concentrations to support cellular renewal, particularly in mature or stressed skin types.
Matrixyl® 3000 (Peptide Complex)
A patented blend of palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, Matrixyl® 3000 is a collagen-stimulating peptide known for its ability to reduce wrinkle depth, improve elasticity, and firm skin over time. It enhances skin's extracellular matrix repair, particularly in areas of photodamage. Hylora includes this peptide complex in targeted formulations where regenerative performance is the priority.
BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)
Used in extremely low concentrations, BHT is a stabilizing antioxidant that protects formula integrity by preventing oxidation of sensitive oils and actives. It helps preserve efficacy without compromising skin safety. At Hylora, BHT is used only when necessary to safeguard active ingredients like CoQ10 or natural lipids from degradation.
IntraVitals™: Skin Health from the Inside Out
Launching in 2026, Hylora IntraVitals™ is our advanced nutraceutical range designed to complete the outside-in / inside-out synergy of our brand.
Each formulation delivers bioavailable, clinically backed ingredients like collagen peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, zinc, and botanical extracts — calibrated for gut absorption and dermal support. IntraVitals™ reflect our whole-system philosophy of beauty: what you apply externally must be supported internally to achieve true longevity and renewal.
FAQs
Why small-batch production?
Small-batch formulation gives us strict control over ingredient integrity, preservation environments, and blending stages. This allows us to ensure freshness, purity, and the most consistent result possible — something difficult to achieve in large-volume manufacturing.
Are your formulations suitable for daily use?
Most are, yes. However, our ULMW-based products — like the Dermal Activation Serum — are formulated as intensive treatments, intended for 2–3 times a week to avoid over-hydration or barrier disruption.
Why don't you maximise active concentrations?
More is not always better. Excess concentration can increase risk of irritation, reduce stability, or waste actives that skin cannot absorb. We instead focus on: Molecular absorption thresholds, Delivery mechanisms, and Clinical results over hype.
Why both ULMW and LMW hyaluronic acid?
Because hydration is multi-layered. LMW stays in the upper epidermis for immediate hydration and comfort. ULMW travels deeper to stimulate regenerative pathways. Used together in a planned protocol, they mimic skin's natural hydration system — enhancing elasticity, tone, and long-term barrier resilience.
